Stars and Flyers don't quit,Memorial Cup kicks off- Broadcast sked, World Hockey Championships Semi Finals, Bulldogs NEWS

"I HEARD NO FAT LADY"

Will Smith- Independence Day.

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I'm happy that both the Dallas Stars and Philadelphia Flyers didn't roll over and die and go out in four straight games. No Fat Lady singing yet. Although I'm sure she was doing the warm-up routine after the Pens made it 3-2 last night! While I'm not really a die-hard born and raised fan of ANY of the four teams still remaining, I am a HOCKEY fan.

So how can one complain when instead of having a weekend without NHL action we have Dallas at Detroit on Saturday (10:30 pacific, CBC) and Philly at Pittsburgh Sunday (12 noon pacific, CBC)

The 2008 Memorial Cup kicks off today with the host Kitchener Rangers taking on the QMJHL Champion Gatineau Olympiques at 4pm pacific on Roger's Sportsnet. The Memorial Cup is always great hockey to watch, but being that it's not in Vancouver this year I'm not nearly as into it. It's still great hockey to watch though! My picks to win- either the WHL Champion Spokane Chiefs, or the OHL RUNNER UP Belleville Bulls.

Action shifts to Quebec City as the World Hockey Championships really start to heat up with the Semi Finals going today. You can catch all the action on TSN or online with their video broadcast through TSN.CA

Action starts at 10:00 pacific with Russia taking on Finland. Should be a dandy.

Then, Canada takes on Sweden at 2:00pm pacific. Should be a pretty tough game, I hope playing Norway doesn't have Canada behind the game before they even begin it. No offense to Norway, but they aren't Sweden. And Sweden had a tougher opponent in the quarters to get them into this game. They needed OT to advance.

For those of you STARVING for Bulldogs news, I bring you a couple of tidbits. Yes, I know that news is sometimes few and far between. It is called the OFF season for a reason people! I don't make the news, I just report it!!

First off- The Bulldogs announced that they have moved Devin Braden to the Quesnel Millionaires. Read the press release ON THE BULLDOGS WEBSITE

There might be more than meets the eye when it comes to this deal though, as the Bulldogs state in their release that they will receive a player to be named later. However, on the Millionaires website, they state this deal completes the future considerations owing from the Jeff Manryk deal in early September. There may be more to this deal, or there might just be someone with their wires crossed. I'm not sure which!

Devin was a kid who battled hard, especially after coming down with Pneumonia around the Christmas break. He battled extremely hard to get into the line up. Best of luck in the future D-Brades!

The other piece of Dogs news is an email I received from the Bulldogs office regarding a "Season Ticket Upgrade" day coming up on Saturday May 24th from 9am to noon at the Multiplex on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis.

Now what exactly is this, you may be asking. This is for anyone who has season tickets who would like to change their seat location/section/area etc.

The only seats available are those that aren't season ticket holder seats obviously.

I can see people lining up at 8am for this. Or probably 7. Gotta love Dog fans.

And FINALLY for today- Can you see it? Yes, look at the perfect heart in that Cheese Burger. I took this picture last Sunday as I was BBQ'ing as the "Celebrity Chef" at the Argyle Pub with proceeds going to the Ty Watson House. I should have probably sold it to Goldenpalace.com or put it on Ebay, but I just gave it to whoever paid their two bucks to support the charity. Neet though, isn't it? I'll be at the Argyle again cooking on Sunday from 3 to 5pm, so please drop by. I will post again about this endeavour later with an update on the funds raised last week!

Thanks for reading!
