A good start for the Bulldogs, as they had a 2 on 1 chance in the first 20 seconds of the game that they failed to connect on. They would earn back to back power play opportunities in the first five minutes, but again couldn't find the net but they did move the puck well. Their best chance actually came when they were shorthanded as Jordan Sandhu made a great effort to get in on the forecheck and hit a Warrior off of it before finding Jake Witkowski all alone in front where he missed the net high. The score remained tied until the late stages of the first when the Dogs earned another power play. They would connect on it with a series of passes up top before Jake Witkowski took a feed from Jordan Sandhu and walked into he deep slot where he snapped a wrister high past the glove of Shane Farkas. Assists on the play went to Jordan Sandhu and Trevor Cosgrove at 19:25 of the first for a 1-0 Dogs lead after one. Shots favoured the Bulldogs 15-8.
The Dogs were penalized early in he second, but came up with a solid kill to protect the lead. The Warriors would gain some momentum from the opportunity, but the Dogs dug in and pushed back near the midway point of the period but couldn't build their lead as Shane Farkas came up with stops on Trevor Cosgrove, Alex MacDonald and Jake Witkowski on the doorstep. The score remained 1-0 until the back half of the period when the Warriors found the net on a giveaway behind the goal by a Bulldog forward. Brody Claeys would make the initial save with the puck ending up behind the goal line. A reversal of the puck caught everyone except Reed Gunville, who deposited into the near side on a wrap around before Claeys could find it. Scott Allan drew the only assist on it at 13:21 of the second for a 1-1 tie after 40 minutes. Shots in the period favoured the Warriors 14-11, and the Bulldogs 26-22 after two periods.
The Warriors had the edge throughout the first half of the third period, appearing to have a jump in their step that the Dogs for the most part lacked as they fought the puck at times. Despite that, it remained 1-1 through the midway point of the period, with Brody Claeys coming up with a couple good saves on the goal line. As the period wore on, the Dogs pushed back to generate some chances of their own, with Shane Farkas keeping it tied, and a late 2 on 1 rush in the final minute seeing Auggie Moore deflect a Tristan Bukovec just over the crossbar. The Warriors were penalized in the final minute of the game, with the Bulldogs having a couple great chances in advance of the buzzer but being unable to find the net. Shots in the third favoured the Warriors 14-8.
The power play carried over into overtime, with the Dogs getting a single shot but being unable to generate a game-winning chance. Less than a minute later the Warriors went to the power play and won the game with just over 30 seconds in the advantage when Matthew Campese walked into the high slot and snapped a shot along the ice and through the legs of a screened Claeys for the 2-1 final. Jake Harrison drew the only assist at 3:34 of overtime.
Shots in OT favoured the Warriors 2-1, for a game total in their favour of 38-35 with Brody Claeys earning 1st star honours while getting tagged with the loss while Shane Farkas picked up the win. The Dogs went 1 for 5 on the power play while the Warriors went 1 for 3.
The Dogs are next in action Friday when they visit the Grizzlies in Victoria.

Did not like the way the DOGS treated their goalie after the game.......completely ignored him!! Show some class, guys!!
